Prof Parry Guilford University of Otago Dunedin, New Zealand

Parry Guilford is a Professor in Cancer Genetics at the University of Otago, Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand and co-founder of the cancer diagnostics company Pacific Edge Ltd. His research interests include the genetics and management of inherited cancers, in particular stomach cancer. In 1998, in collaboration with affected Māori families, his research team first defined the cancer syndrome Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer (HDGC). Most recently, his research has focused on the identification of synthetic lethal vulnerabilities which can be exploited for the chemoprevention of HDGC. Other active research areas include the development and implementation of genomics-based cancer diagnostic tools, and the use of these technologies to reduce inequities in healthcare.
