Dr Naraythean Karanth is a medical oncologist practising cancer medicine at top end since 2010. He is also the current Director of medical oncology at Royal Darwin Hospital/ Alan Walker Cancer Centre. He is an overseas trained physician, completed his Medical Oncology training (DM) at Tata Memorial Cancer centre, Mumbai India from 2004- 2007. He has undergone peer review for his FRACP at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide from 2008- 2010.
He started medical oncology Advanced training in Darwin in 2012, in close association with SA medical oncology group. He is a supervisor for advanced and basic physician trainees. He is also a Lecturer with Flinders University, Adelaide. He has represented NT in several national workshops, expert group meetings. His interests include Breast, GI and thoracic oncology, Rare cancers, Rural and indigenous health, access to cancer clinical trials. He works in a multidisciplinary environment and chairs weekly Surgical-Oncology MDT in Darwin.
